The Athena Helmet by Extremis Systems redefines ballistic protection, setting a new industry standard. Engineered to surpass rigorous NIJ IIIA requirements, it stops five consecutive .44 Magnum rounds with an unprecedented average backface deformation (BFD) below 22mm—less than one-third that of leading competitors. Lightweight yet uncompromising, the Athena maintains an average BFD under 25.4mm across all test shots, outperforming traditional helmets and delivering unmatched safety and comfort for tactical professionals.

Our Level IIIA panels, weighing just 2.0 lbs./sq. ft., stop threats up to .44 Magnum and 5.7x28mm, offering superior protection over soft inserts with no rattle, articulation issues, or moisture/heat degradation. Our Level IV panels, at 7.8 lbs./sq. ft., defeat .30-06 M2 AP rounds—tested to stop five rounds with zero backface deformation—while being up to 62% lighter than steel alternatives. One of our proudest achievements is the development of truly female-specific hard armor, inspired by a real-world need. Motivated by the story of a close friend of our founder, Zack Spencer, who retired early due to injuries from ill-fitting male armor, we engineered a solution.
